For DaVinci Resolve

Caption a whole video in one click.

Aster captions your edit inside DaVinci Resolve, with every word on the frame you say it. Then make the words that matter big, change how they move, add your own sound effects, and paste that style on every other line.

Launching soon. The list gets it first, and the The first 100 pay $69 instead of $99.

00 Go on

Press it.

This is the real panel, as an object. Every key goes down, the knobs turn, the fader slides. Drag it round to see the back.

  1. Press any dark key under How lines leave.
  2. Flip Big text back to Caption.
  3. Turn Shake. Slide How far.

01 Timing

Every word lands when you say it.

Aster reads the subtitles DaVinci Resolve already makes from your audio and builds every caption from them. Each word appears on the frame you say it, pauses included. You never type a timing, and you never open Fusion.

02 Editing

Change anything, right on the picture.

Font, colour, size, position: the things that eat an edit. Click a line on the real frame and drag it where you want it, pull a corner to resize it, or pick one word and change only that word.

03 Big text

One switch makes a line big.

Any caption becomes a small line over one huge word, above your head or below your face. Six layouts, one click each. Flip it back whenever you like.

04 Motion

Change the animation with one key.

Seven ways for a line to leave, as many again for how it arrives, and a fader for how far it travels. Shake and Soft are knobs: turn until it looks right.

05 Sound

Your own sound effects, on the word.

Add the sounds you already use and Aster puts them under your big words, on the exact frame each one lands. No stock clicks you would never choose, and no dragging clips onto the timeline one at a time.

06 Styles

Style one line. Paste it on the rest.

Copy the look of a line you like, its position too if you want, and paste it on one caption, on all the big text, or on the whole video. Save it, and it is there for the next edit.

07 Why it exists

My own captions pack was not enough.

I sold two caption packs for DaVinci Resolve and still did the same work on every video: changing the font, the colour, the position, and placing every sound effect by hand. Aster is the tool I wanted instead. Amro Omar

09 Questions

Before you ask.

Does it work with DaVinci's own auto subtitles?

Yes, that is exactly what it uses. Resolve Studio makes the subtitles (Timeline, AI Tools, Create Subtitles from Audio) and Aster reads them. There is no second plugin to install.

Does it come with sound effects?

It comes with a few built-in sounds, and you can add your own files. Either way Aster places them on the words for you.

Does it work in the free version of DaVinci Resolve?

No. Resolve only lets panels like this run in Studio, the paid version.

Windows?

Not at launch. Aster is Mac only for now.

Premiere, Final Cut or CapCut?

No. DaVinci Resolve only.

Does it work on horizontal video?

It is built for vertical 9:16. It opens on horizontal timelines too, and the horizontal layout is still being tuned.

Is it a subscription?

No. One payment: $69 for the first 100 units, $99 after that.

Does it use AI, or need the internet?

Neither. It reads the subtitles Resolve has already made and does the rest on your machine.

Can I use my own fonts?

Yes. Any font installed on your computer.

Do I get updates?

Yes. Updates for version 1 are free.

What if it does not work for me?

You get your money back within 14 days.
